Schnieder is like family, I can stay on the road all week with out being home, before my career started i never left the state, and barely goes places with my family beside riding atvs with my friends in the sugercane fields, stay hame all day with my family.even in high school.now i love to travel,
@brownie9er You must have your CDL Permit before they will take you. You will also need a DOT physical. I went to schneider in 2005. It was a good experience for the training. They pay and is low and they promise to give you an average of 2500 miles over a 6 month period. Don’t fall for this one like I did. If you make it through their entire program, you will have to drive for them for a year. If you quit early you will owe Schneider Training Academy about $3500 for the schooling.
I have no truck driving experiance or a CDL, what can I do to work for schneider? Do you still have a training program?
I’ve worked for Schneider for 5 yrs. I’ve drove for them and work as an internal. They don’t screw you over any more than any other trucking company does. They are all the same. No matter what people say about Schneider, I still have a good paying job when other trucking companies have gone under.
china grove – a grate starter for this vid. if younger, i would give it try. kewl colour!
I’ve been with Schneider for alittle over 13 years. I was trained at a Tech College Trucking program and then 6 years later went through Shneiders 2 week program. Schneiders 2 weeks of training was much more thorough and actually better overall than a longer college program. You will only have to pay the fee for the training if you quit within one year. That’ reasonble. Right now, I’m pretty sure their mostly hiring experienced drivers and the training center isnt taking new drivers.
i heard they don’t do the school anymore? is that true? and if so, why?
oh yeah, fat boys, pretty ladies and coutry music, yeehahh! SCHNEDIER

im thinking about joyning the team
15 years ago Schneider were offering sponsorship to foreign nationals prepared to settle in the U.S. It was quite a deal: free driver training, accomodation, food vouchers, over the road supervision for a few weeks and, what most people were motivated by…working papers. Driving those cab-overs was a shock to the system though. These “brand-new” ’94 trucks (apart from the g.p.s.) were late ’70s technology. How could they expect drivers to sit for days on end with a 300/range change ‘box?
Schneider National no longer has the trucking school. My boyfriend has been a truck driver for schneider for 12 years.
At 2:30 why did he put the signal lights on and the dome light ha ha.
does this company offer you a brand new truck when u a rookie????
SNI is a serious company that will be around after all the other piss ants fall by the way side.

LOL Steve Holding the door open!<–<<
Not all drivers make the same money… It is that tall tale that keeps drivers working harder and making less. It is the BIG BOSS keeping a driver down… It is cool that you got a good local job. At A BOY!
I agree the pay structure really needs a overhaul. But just to give you a brief update since your brief stint(wife and kids crying is not easy, even for a grow man) There are many jobs that pay hourly.
You hate it or love it.. I tell you it is not a job for a family man. But if you don’t have chains at home and can hack being a OTR driver them come on out i will hold the door for any of you! LOL
You know what one of my favorite times are? When i get into a shipper and they say “sorry it is going to take us a while to get you loaded.” And i will tell you why i get paid to sleep after a few hours. Not many can get paid to sleep! wOOt!!!
how old do you have to be to start trucking and training?
A lot of new drivers(especially younger ones) get all gung ho about the job…but after a few months(sometimes less) they quickly realize its a no life job that pays shit for the amount of hours your putting in at work.
I agree with you %100 stevefrompa.Your time is money. Also the sacrifice of being away from your family, getting poor sleep, eating shit expensive food on the road, and showereing in truck stops. If your at work you should be getting paid whether the truck is moving or not, refueling, and pretrips all should be paid for.Theres no comparison….an hourly paid job is waaaaaay better.Until long haul trucking pays by the hour I wouldn’t reccommend it to anybody.
A question for anybody 2 ponder if ur thinking about going over the road..Drivers in the 70s were making the same money that their paying today..Your in the truck for 24 hrs, now lets say you work at a $20 a hour rate, $480 aday not making that? you should be with that type of time..On a easy day I make $220 a day in 8 hrs and home every nite with weekends and holidays off..So get your new experence and find a better driving job.
